| Coconut Wood is our wood of choice because it is an exquisitely beautiful and strong tropical hardwood that is ecologically plantation grown. Coconut wood is a durable, clear-grain wood with a high fibrous content that resists warping and cracking. Other Wood Species are available to use. We choose only tropical hardwoods that are plantation-grown, non-endangered and sustainably harvested. Wood Treatments include kiln-drying, fine sanding, termite protection and sealing with 3 layers of clear UV protection finishes. Termite Treatment is applied to all woods and to all wood surfaces. We use only non-toxic borate solutions in our termite treatments. Roofs can be made of durable ironwood shakes, long life ceramic tiles (blue or red), or traditional Balinese thatched grass. Ironwood Shingles is our roof of choice. Ironwood is one of the hardest woods on earth. Ironwood shingles are screwed down using rustproof screws, making them virtually hurricane proof. Insulation panels can be added to roof to keep you extra cool. Cupolas (second mini-roof) can be added to many designs for additional beauty and ventilation. Louvered windows can be installed in cupolas for cooler climates. |
Ceilings are made with durable bamboo woven mats that have been termite treated and sealed with quality finishes. Windows and Doors feature extra strong 1/4 inch plate glass. Tempered glass and safety glass are also available. Our sliding glass doors feature English-made sliding mechanisms. Screen windows, screen doors and screen sliding doors are made of hand-crafted wood for insect-free living. Solid Brass Hardware is available for all hinges, latches and handles for lifetime rust-free operation. Walls and Floors are made of finely milled, tongue-and-groove boards for tight fit and strength. Floors can be standard 3/4 inch thick or extra strong 1 inch thick. Hurricane Straps are added to roof beams and pillar bases. Framing construction is post and beam, which is naturally hurricane resistant. Cold Weather climates can be customized with double insulated walls, ceilings and floors. Windows can be double glazed. Bathrooms and Closets can be added that project out from the living space (under the roof eaves). Custom designs are available. Kitchens and other custom designs are also available. |
